“Cultural and Terminological Controversies on the Concept of Life: A Multidisciplinary Approach”
My paper is divided in two parts. The first part will focus on the Romantic and Idealistic imbrication of philosophy, theology and science under the influence of Johann W. von Goethe, including considerations on Blumenbach, Baader and Schelling. I intend to show how they led the cultural revolution in the conception of life and its closest related concept: the Will. The second phase of my talk will be directed to the cultural – academic – resistance to spiritualistic/full metaphysical solutions to consistence problems of the contemporary disciplines, like the virtual impossibility of reconciling religion and science, ultimately followed by the difficulties in integration human consciousness and action.
